*THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED. LOOK OUT FOR MORE IN THE NEAR FUTURE.*
Back in 2012, I came across the Bowmore Small Batch Reserve bottling. I was still in the stage of whisky drinking where peaty whiskies weren’t really appealing to me – I didn’t mind them, but they rarely sang out to me, weren’t my top shelf choice if you will.
So when I tried the slightly gentler, first-fill ex-bourbon cask influence of this release from Bowmore I was immediately hooked, as mentioned in this review. I even ended up putting it in my Top 10 Dram of 2012 list for its soothing ways.
But, it wasn’t the easiest to get a hold of. I suppose the name could make you come to a logical conclusion about that and I didn’t pick up enough of it for my cupboard.
Luckily, news came through to the Miss Whisky postbox recently that the company has decided to do a bigger push out, renaming and repackaging the release. It will now be called Small Batch, and it comes in a slightly brighter, zingy packaging but with all the same attributes – first & second fill ex-bourbon cask maturation, NAS, 40%.
To announce the bigger launch, the company has put together a rather lovely animation, which made me very nostalgic for my recent trip to Islay – all of which I will be writing about on here, so look out for reviews and stories from my visits to Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain, Kilchoman, Ardbeg and Lagavulin over the coming months.
In the interim, the team over at Bowmore are running a competition with me to give one of you lucky readers a chance to get a hold of this ‘new’ release.
And entering is easy-peasy.
